2011-12-10_EmAGN Sydney Photographic Competition

EmAGN the National Emerging Architects and Graduates Network of the Australian Institute of Architects initiated a new one day photographic competition: EmAGN Sydney, held on 10th December at Fraser Studios.

The premise was that architects see the city a bit differently. The aim was to provide an opportunity for our demographic to engage with the city and to exhibit their work in the public domain in order to stimulate discourse about our city and how we see it. The images responded to this brief:

The Australian ugliness is bigger and better here… There is beauty to be discovered here, natural and artistic, the trouble is that it must be discovered.

Robin Boyd: The Australian Ugliness 1960

Supported by EmAGN, the Australian Institute of Architects NSW Chapter, Fraser Studios and the Wholemeal Cafe
